COURSE NAME: GENERAL CHEMISTRY I

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH1

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: After completion of this course the students will learn the atomic structure through the basic concepts of quantum mechanics.

CO2: They will understand the chemical bonding through VB and MO approaches

CO3:In states of matter part, students will learn about the postulates of the kinetic theory

CO4: Gases, behaviour of real gases, structure of liquid and its properties

CO5: crystal structure of solid states including imperfection in solid.

COURSE NAME: GENERAL CHEMISTRY II

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH2

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: This course may be divided into two broad parts-organic and physical chemistry

CO2: The organic chemistry part contains fundamentals of organic chemistry, stereochemistry and aliphatic hydrocarbons

CO3: The physical chemistry part contains states of chemical thermodynamics and phase rule

CO4: In chemical thermodynamics, the students are expected to learn the thermodynamics terms closed, open and isolated system, surrounding, energy, heat, internal etc

CO5: The students are also expected to learn phase Rule and its application in some specific system.

COURSE NAME:GENERAL CHEMISTRY III

COURSE CODE: 16SCCC3

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: After completion of this course student will have an idea on periodic classification of elements in the periodic table and variation of periodic properties along the periods.

CO2: They will know all oxides, hydroxides, oxyacid, halides with respect to group 1,2 and 13-17 groups of periodic tables.

CO3:They will learn different physical and chemical reactivity shown by heavier p-block elements due to presence of vacant d-orbitals.

CO4: Another part of this course deals with the transition metal chemistry

CO5:The students are also expected to understand the various parts of electrochemical cell, fuel cell and battery.

COURSE NAME:GENERAL CHEMISTRY IV

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH4

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: This course is inducted to apprise students with aromatic and aliphatic hydroxyl compounds, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids, carbohydrates, fats and oils.

CO2: They will be able to differentiate the organic compounds based on their functional groups.

CO3:In this course chemical kinetics and surface chemistry have been introduced.

CO4: In this chapter student will learn the rate laws of chemical transformations, experimental methods of determining the rate of a reaction.

CO5:In ionic equilibrium chapter students will learn about the Ostwald’s dilution law, role of buffer solution in chemical reactions and biological systems.

COURSE NAME: INORGANIC CHEMISTRY- I

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH5

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: This course apprises students about the variety of compounds of the main group elements including oxides, hydrides, nitrides, interhalogens, noble gases and inorganic polymers.

CO2: Another part of this course deals with the transition metal chemistry

CO3: This also gives the basic idea of coordination chemistry.

CO4: Various aspects like nomenclature, structure, bonding, variety and reactivity of the coordination compounds are included for the students to appreciate.

CO5:Different physical and chemical reactivity shown by heavier p-block elements due to presence of vacant d-orbitals are discussed.

COURSE NAME: ORGANIC CHEMISTRY-I

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH6

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: This course is also inducted to apprise students with introduction to pericyclic reactions

CO2: Different types of pericyclic reactions- electrocyclic, cycloaddition and sigma tropic, theories frontier molecular orbital method and conservation of orbital symmetry

CO3: In this course polynuclear aromatics, nitro and amino compounds, oregano S and organo P compounds, active methylene compounds and heterocyclic compounds

CO4: Different oxidizing and reducing agents used in organic reactions along with their mechanism are also included.

CO5:Electrophilic, nucleophilic and free radical and free radical- ß elimination and pyrolytic elimination along with their mechanisms.

COURSE NAME: PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY I

COURSE CODE: 16SCCCH7

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: This course contains states of matter- gaseous and liquid states. The colligative property and electrochemistry is also used.

CO2: In gaseous state unit the students will learn the kinetic theory of gases, ideal gas and real gases. Besides they will also learn degrees of freedom, molecular basis of heat capacity etc.

CO3:In the electrochemistry chapter, the students are expected to learn the theories ofconductivity and electrochemistry.

CO4: They will have an idea on different electrochemical cells; fuel cell etc. student will also have an understanding on colligative properties of solutions

CO5:In the molecular and crystal symmetry unit they will be introduced to the elementary idea of symmetry which will be useful to understand solid state chemistry and group theory in some higher courses.

COURSE NAME: ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY

COURSE CODE: 16SMBECH1:1

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: Explain the fundamentals of analytical chemistry and steps of a characteristic analysis. The role of analytical chemistry in science.compare qualitative and quantitative analyses Expresses the quantitative analysis methods.

CO2: To give in-depth knowledge of documentation through Ms Office packages.

CO3:Iinterpreted the sources of random errors and effects of random errors on analytical results. Explain the sources of random errors. Specifies the standard deviation of calculated results. Expresses the significant figures and rounding of data.

CO4: Define the different gravimetric methods. Defines the properties of precipitate and precipitating reagent. Uses the gravimetric calculations. Interpret the complexometric titrations.

CO5:Apply the equilibrium calculations to complex systems. Determines systematic method for solving the multiple-equilibrium problems. Identifies the solubility by the systematic method. solves the problems related to ion separation by control of the concentration of the precipitating reagents

COURSE NAME: ORGANIC CHEMISTRY II

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: In this course conformational analysis of cycloalkanes, aliphatic hydrocarbons and their stability, top city and criteria for establishing top city, prostereisomerism are included.

CO2: The course also includes different types of both electrophilic and nucleophilic aromatic substitution reactions, mechanism and various factors affecting the type of reaction mechanism.

CO3:General methods of preparation, physical properties, reactions and functional group transformations of compounds- saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, polynuclear hydrocarbons.

CO4: Alkyl and aryl halides, 1°, 2°, 3° alcohols, aromatic and aliphatic amines, diols, triols, phenols, benzyl alcohols, aromatic and aliphatic carbonyl compounds.

CO5:Aromatic and aliphatic carboxylic acids, aromatic and aliphatic nitro compounds are also included

COURSE NAME: NUCLEAR,INDUSTRICAL&METALLIC STATE

Upon completion of the course students would be able to

CO1: Explain the fundamental concepts involved in nuclear weapons based solely on fission

CO2: Understand and calculate the mass defect for a nuclear reaction use Einstein’s relation,E =(∆m) c2 .

CO3: To calculate energy changes in nuclear reactions calculate nuclear binding energies interpret binding energy per nucleon plots in terms of nuclear stability and the energychanges

CO4: Explain how nuclear reactions can be used to produce energy , define critical mass and describe the relationship between critical mass and chain reactions

CO2: Polymer degradation – thermal , photo and oxidation degradation of polymers.

CO3:Polymerization techniques: Bulk, Solution, Emulsion, Melt condensation and interfacial polycondensation.

CO4: preparation, properties and uses of polymers: Poly vinyl chloride Urea formaldehyde resin, phenol formaldehyde resin, Poly styrene and Teflon.
CO5:Bio polymers- bimeterials, polymers in medical field, High temperature and fire resistant polymers
